And just like that… summer is upon us and the end of 2022 imminent, clearly time flies when you’re having fun doing what you love!
The past month or so has been filled with highlights, professionally and personally – from new product launches and results-getting treatments, from ‘out of office’ adventures to outreach initiatives that saw us getting involved in our community, to Christmas decor and magic - we have lots to tell you. In June we bid farewell to Dr Helenka who embarked on her new journey at our sister branches in the Western Cape. A bittersweet goodbye as, although we miss her smiling face at our branch, the Cape town born doctor is home and still part of the Skin Renewal family.
Please join us in welcoming Dr Janene and Dr Darienne to the West Rand team. These beautiful women have filled the gap with their effervescent personalities.
Dr Janene is a multi-faceted woman when not at our branch working with you to achieve your skin goals, she enjoys gardening, reading, and watching motorsport. Dr Janene is always up for a challenge and loves to travel and explore new destinations. She looks forward to welcoming you and creating a skincare journey that achieves the goals you desire.
An extremely versatile doctor, Dr Darienne always had an interest in aesthetic medicine and welcomed the opportunity to be trained by Dr Maureen Allem, and become a member of her medical team at Skin Renewal. When not at our branch, Dr Darienne and her husband may be found walking with their two Pomeranian fur babies. A compassionate and highly skilled medical doctor, Dr Darienne is excited to create a skincare solution so that you may discover The Elixir of Youth. Her favourite treatments are the Endymed/Secret RF needling, as it gives such amazing results and her favourite product is SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic.
Empathy and giving back to the wider community are integral to the Skin Renewal family ethos. As a team that loves food and working together to prepare it, we have made many sandwiches, which we distribute to the underprivileged persons in our vicinity.
We also baked Christmas cookies and doggie treats to sell, the proceeds of which go towards purchasing reusable sanitary pads from Komani. Collectively Skin Renewal branches raised sufficient funds to purchase over 1,600 packs. The reusable sanitary pads will be donated to beneficiaries in need, but more than just receiving the packs, the beneficiaries also receive an education.
We share the Komani team's passion to eradicate period poverty and empower women.

We took some time out to use our creative talents and healing hands, and play with clay. Hartzgemaak Pottery Café gave us the space to laugh, create, paint and connect.

This year, for the first time in two years, we had the opportunity to gather as members of the Skin Renewal family, and celebrate 2022 together. We are incredibly proud of Pretty Ramokopeloa for her 15-year service award. Pretty takes such good care of our team, our space and our guests.
The Vampire Facial "Platelet Rich Plasma"
Because of the increased, concentrated platelets and growth factors, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) can be used for hair loss, thinning skin, wrinkles, sagging, healing, scarring and general skin rejuvenation, which is what makes it excellent for any anti-ageing, rejuvenation or regeneration treatment.
Although blood is mainly a liquid (called plasma), it also contains small solid components (red cells, white cells, and platelets). The platelets are best known for their importance in clotting blood. However, platelets also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors, which are very important in the healing of injuries.
PRP is plasma with many more platelets than what is typically found in blood. The concentration of platelets and, thereby, the concentration of growth factors can be 5 to 10 times greater (or richer) than usual.
