West Rand Branch Newsletter April 2021

We first opened our doors in West Rand in April 2016 and have been making amazing memories for the past 5 years! Thank you for choosing us as your preferred Skin, Body and Health care partner.

We also celebrated another very special birthday, that of Dr Zander, one of our favourite doctors. (As you’ll see, we at the West Rand branch take cake very, VERY seriously.)

Giving back

Birthday celebrations aside, if there’s one thing we learned in 2020, it’s that nothing should be taken for granted. So, feeling inspired by Mother Teresa who advises we should all “spread love everywhere”, we did exactly that.

The West Rand branch was very proud to participate in the first-ever Skin Renewal Virtual CSI day. This saw all 16 of our branches team up across three provinces to donate 2 896 hours to three charities. The result? 5 120 people were given a much-needed meal.

Our team packed 80 parcels of nutritious and essential ingredients that, when added to 1L of water, feeds a family of 4. The Gauteng parcels were donated to the families of the Kliptown community, feeding 2 560 residents. Some team members had the opportunity to go to Kliptown, connect with the residents and drop off the food parcels, and sweety packs for the little ones.

The Kliptown community and its residents are never far from our thoughts, as winter approaches we are collecting warm clothing donations. Skin Renewal Gauteng is assisting the Kliptown community to establish their very own second-hand shop. The donated items will be distributed among the beneficiaries and also used at the second-hand shop to generate a small stipend.

We dance as one!

The West Rand team is always game for anything so when President Cyril Ramaphosa encouraged South Africans to spend time together on Heritage Day, the Skin Renewal family did exactly that.

Being Proudly South African we didn’t hesitate to shake our tail feathers, together with Dr Maureen Allem, our founder and medical director, by taking part in the #jerusalemadancechallenge.

Hello’s and goodbyes

We had to say “see you around!” to therapist Samantha Williams, who relocated to KZN and joined our Durban Branch as Assistant Manager, as well as our Manager Olivia Pedro who is now heading up our distribution centre in Gauteng.

We wish Olivia and Samantha all the best and look forward to seeing them soon.

We’ve also welcomed Dr Helenka Fourie and can’t wait to make great memories with her. Bullied for her freckles and red hair as a child, she became a fashion model and it was during this time that her interest in medical aesthetics stemmed as she feels it is so closely linked to self-confidence. She celebrates enhancing your natural beauty through aesthetics.

Dr. Helenka will be available for consultations and injectable treatments at our branch on Monday afternoons as well as Thursday and Friday mornings.

Knowledge is power

We never stop learning at Skin Renewal and pride ourselves on the extensive training which doctors and therapists take part in on an ongoing basis. As lockdown restrictions have eased up, we’ve enjoyed being able to train face-to-face. Especially therapist Surita Booyzen - she won a prize via a pop quiz!

Spotlight on a superstar!

In the “wild west”, one of our favourite products is

SkinCeuticals Silymarin CF. It’s a world-class vitamin C serum for oily and blemish-prone skin types that also want to prevent premature ageing.

Thanks to a brilliant mix of vitamin C, silymarin, salicylic acid and ferulic acid, it’ll help reduce the signs of ageing, reduce the oil that leads to breakouts and minimise the look of lines and pores while improving radiance.
