Where's this year gone?
As always, it was a hot February and March here in beautiful Umhlanga! And now nearly in April, we're wondering where the first quarter has flown to? But the sunshine keeps us smiling and 2022 keeps us grounded, focused and hopeful. It also gives us reason to celebrate; we did things back to front (why not?) and toasted 2021 at the start of this year with our CEO Victor Snyders. And now we're ready for even more joy, goodness and beautiful skin journeys!

Home is where the heart is? Oh yes! It's also - lucky for us and our patients - where the buzz is.
Umhlanga Arch is real destination lifestyle centre in Umhlanga; think retail therapy, food and restaurant culture located on this part of KZN's famous ridge. We kicked off the year with an initiative that fills our joy tanks till they overflow: our weekly sandwich delivery to the SEED FUND children at the Malacca after-school care program.
Our driver Uncle Rodney fetches sandwiches every Wednesday for this weekly drop off, and to see the happy faces of the little ones receiving their afternoon meals is instant reward!

And we got even more excited this month and last because it's our annual birthday season. With our four special squad members celebrating another year around the sun, the branch has been full of celebrations (and cakes)! So happiest of birthdays goes to February babies Uncle Rodney (our driver), housekeeper Joyce and Dr Merle Williams.
And for March, it's congrats to medical therapist, Catherine!

As we set out intentions for the rest of the year, we know how much the heart really matters. What makes it happier? Forgive us for getting a little corny, but John Lennon said it best: "Love is the answer and you know that for sure."
Medical therapist, Roxy Buchanan has the right idea and gave two pups a new home (and lots of love)! She and her husband decided to grow their little family with new fur babies Olly and Oakley.

Off We fly: The Joy of Travel
Broadening horizons and going on adventures boosts the mood and the mind! Dr Caitlin and boyfriend, Adriaan flew off to Ireland for a not only well-deserved break, but a real change of scenery and pace. Exquisite wild beauty, history and a glimpse of traditional Irish culture and language, meant Dr Caitlin ticked a gem off her bucket list.
We're thrilled for her!
Celebration Time
Medical Therapist, Catherine Anderson had a proper recharge and refresh with a holiday to game reserve Bayete Zulu. A little escape to the beautiful African Bush is one of the big pleasures of living in South Africa - and it's never taken for granted.
Celebrating her 30th birthday, she and boyfriend Dwayne (also marking his birthday in the same month) made the most of their very special local getaway. Well done guys!

This year’s CSI project is no different
We are incredibly proud to be partnering with Komani to help stop period poverty. Every year 10,000 girls miss school due to not having proper sanitary ware. Komani produces sustainable, washable and reusable, high-quality sanitary pads which are environmentally friendly.
All 18 Skin Renewal branches will be participating in this initiative which will, in turn, assist the beneficiaries in the three charities we support in each province. We aim to donate 1000 packs of Komani reusable sanitary pads to each charity this year. For every 100 packs we receive, we will spend time with the beneficiaries educating them on personal hygiene and how to use and maintain their sanitary pack.
