We love a check-in and a chat (who doesn’t?) and so we thought as winter skin becomes a thing, let’s get right to it and share some good news and tips.

What’s going to help your skin get through the season?

The Paarl Team’s Three Sensational Skin Tips is a curated guide to help you now and in the chill ahead. Our medically trained therapist Anke, Dr Chrisna and myself Helette, the branch leader, share our tips with you:

Anke's Tip for the Season

“Now is the time to book for Dual Fraxel because during the wintery season, your skin’s pigment cells are less stimulated. Plus, it’s also easier to cover up with soft knitwear and scarves!

This laser energy penetrates the skin’s surface (the epidermis), delivering microscopic columns of light into the underlying layer of the skin (the dermis). This process produces tiny wounds in the dermis layer, which in turn stimulates the body’s healing response system.

As the body works to repair the small wounds, collagen and elastin is reactivated. Remember, collagen and elastin are essential to healthy, youthful-looking skin, but the body produces less of these proteins over time.

The damaged skin is replaced with healthier, refreshed and younger-looking skin!”

“I base my skin care routine on morning protection and night time repair principles. During daytime my focus is on anti-ageing and I protect my skin with anti-oxidants and sunscreen. At night time I repair ageing with ingredients like Vitamin A (Retinol) and peptides.

I reach for serums as my go-to active treatments with their more concentrated nutritional level of ingredients.”

“Winter is often a very clever and considered time to have deeper skin treatments to help with conditions like scarring, rough skin texture and skin laxity.

RF Needling – like Endymed Intensif RF Micro-Needling – is a minimally invasive procedure which combines micro needling and radio frequency to improve your skin’s texture. It works by transmitting heat into the dermis, which triggers the natural healing process. It’s also safe for all skin types.”

Why is there no better feeling in the world than giving back? Over and over studies have shown that giving unto others is actually so good for you. It's reported that it’s a form of stress relief. And we don’t mean that a single donation helps take the weight of the world off your shoulders, but stepping outside your life for a moment, and seeing what you can do for others means a break from what might be getting you down.

Two important projects that that have captured out hearts are Reach for a Dream Slipper Day and Komani. This year, again, we participated in Slipper Day and we continue to support @reach_for_a_dream with all the other amazing work they do for children with life threatening illnesses.

Our work and support of Komani is such a passion as it speaks to what every girl and woman has the right to; basic healthcare - especially when it comes to her menstrual cycle.

Period poverty means missed education, a dire problem for so many girls and young women in Sub-Saharan Africa. And so we’re offering one patient R1000 off their next treatment for a donation of R50 towards purchasing a pack of Komani reusable sanitary pads.

Please speak to any member of our team and they’ll tell you more about this important initiative.
