Isn’t it amazing how time flies when you’re doing what you love? This month, we’re celebrating 8 years in our beautiful branch. While the last few months have been a challenge, we were founded to help you look and feel good in every sense of the word. To date, our commitment is unwavering and we’re proud and humbled to still be giving you, our loyal customers, the very best treatments and care you deserve.

Big branch birthday aside, we had other reasons to celebrate and especially like it when it’s got a focus on health and wellness. This is why, towards the end of 2020, we started collaborating with MissFit Boxing Studio in Thrupps. We really enjoyed taking part in their fun-filled fitness mornings that they hosted together with The Pack Running Club. While they really kept us on our toes, it won’t be for the last time so keep an eye on our social media pages for more information on their feel-good events.
We then swapped out our boxing gloves for party hats as both our assistant manager Noxy Mkwanazi and much-loved therapist Marisa Houston celebrated their birthdays in January.
We also got to enjoy a bit more time with one of our favourite clients, Miss Earth, Catherine Constantinides. She’ll now be frequenting our sister-branch in Bedfordview as it’s become more convenient for her. However, we do hope she pops in to say hello if she’s ever in the area – if only to make sure we’re still listening to her good advice about always switching off any unnecessary lights! We’ll miss you Catherine! Thank you for being such a force for good!

Talking about sustainability, we’re super excited to be getting our Bokashi Bins! We believe in creating a better tomorrow so these food waste recycling bins are going to help us upcycle our food scraps. It will be one of our sustainability goals for 2021, together with upcycling paper, glass and any previously loved items. As it is, we’re already making use of environmentally friendly paper and, when we do print, we do so on both sides. (Miss Earth – we hope we’re making you proud!)

Giving back to the wider community is fundamental to the Skin Renewal ethos. Over the past few years we have forged a strong relationship with the Kliptown community who we continue to help in a positive and sustainable manner. We’re still collecting all second-hand homeware, linen and clothing that we donate to the Unemployed Youth group in Kliptown. They then sell these items to the community at an affordable price via a little second hand shop they’ve set up. In turn, they invest the proceeds in their own business – candle making! If you perhaps have any Douw Egberts coffee bottles around, please bring them into our branch. We’d love to hand them over as they use them to make beautiful handmade candles.
This month, we’d like to put the spotlight on cryotherapy! Cooltech Cryolipo Fat Freezing is a body contouring treatment that’s often referred to as the "the safer alternative to liposuction".
