Can you believe it’s March already? This is a big year for us as our branch is turning 4!

While the days are flying by like minutes, we still found the time to do some mini renovations towards the end of last year, so we’re all set for a fresh start in 2021.

As a collective, we’ve got many years of experience and are super excited to help you exceed all your skin and healthcare goals. We know we’re still in challenging times – but we’re up for it – and continue to take extensive safety precautions to ensure you get the very best care possible. We are still screening all entrants on arrival, checking temperatures, handing out cute little booties to wear over your shoes, sanitizing every surface every hour, on the hour, and all our Doctors, Therapists and Nurses wear full PPE.

We’re all thrilled to welcome our new front desk team. The lovely Sohana Lalijt, our new branch manager, joined us in February. She is focused on client care, confidentiality, great results, and making your journey with us as enjoyable as possible!

Stacy Norman from East Coast Radio has just started her skin care journey with Skin Renewal KZN. We’re super excited to assist her with all her skin care goals for 2021. Be sure to tune in to East Coast Radio to hear what Stacy and Dr Merle discussed for her journey and keep an eye on our social media pages to get insight into the treatments best suited for Stacy to achieve her desired results.

Treatment of the month

At Skin Renewal, we know that better results can be achieved by combining treatments. This is why Kovanna and Tasmin’s favourite treatment is a combination of carboxytherapy, peels and Laser Genesis. The results we’re seeing from this clever combo are incredible! Think anti-ageing, retexturizing, brightening, acne-reducing… it does it all! And for those with sensitive skins, don’t you worry – there’s something for you too. A little PDT session will help reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation!

Are you using the correct product?

As the seasons change, so does our skin. Are you sure you’re using the right skincare? Fortunately, Taz and Kovanna are here to guide you. Both are brilliant at analysing skin and can advise you accordingly. They are happy to do a complimentary Skin Consultation for you, to ensure you are using the correct products and give you further information on ingredients you should be looking for in products, when to apply them and how much to apply to ones skin.

Giving back

We have forged a meaningful relationship with The Seed Fund which remains our chosen charity for 2021. They’re a great non-profit organisation that aims to awaken the dream of an improved future for poverty-stricken children at the Malacca Road informal settlement in Durban North.

Every Wednesday, we make the kids sandwiches and deliver them to the homework club. If you would like to be involved in either making the sandwiches, dropping them off or even donating the ingredients please chat to Sohana or Samantha. Also be sure to watch our national CSI Facebook page to learn about the initiatives we continue to drive in the community (@RenewedHopeZA).

Still going green

Ah, the humble spekboom! Did you know this local-is-lekker plant has the most amazing ability to purify the air in its environment? It’s also edible (although we suspect it will be a while until we see a spekboom salad at Mugg & Bean) and some cultures use the leaves as medicine.

Because we think spek is very special, we’ve planted a bunch of it all around the clinic and are inviting our patients to take a snip of it home with them so we can encourage its growth. Spekkies are incredibly low maintenance – even for the most serial of plant-murderers – and can even be propagated in water before being transferred to the ground once they pop a few roots.

Ready for a check-up?

Nurse Esme is our registered nurse and she’s passionate about ensuring our patients look after their health. To help them do just that, she expertly performs IV infusions as well as biopuncture and ozone treatments to help boost your body’s immune system. She’s also a health coach and does wonders with motivating our RID diet patients with weight loss. We love that she totally gets it, having followed the program herself for years and successfully kept the weight off!
